Kevin Parent

Québécois singer-songwriter Kevin Parent was born in 1972 in Greenfield Park on Montreal’s South Shore and grew up on the Gaspé Peninsula, where both Anglophone and Francophone environments shaped his bilingual writing. He emerged in the mid-1990s on Quebec’s chanson scene with a folk-rock sound tinged with pop and country, centered on acoustic guitar and everyday, narrative lyrics. His debut album, Pigeon d’argile, appeared in 1995, followed by Grand parleur, petit faiseur in 1998, Les vents ont changé in 2001, and Retrouvailles in 2003, which cemented his place in francophone chanson. Through the 2000s, Parent expanded his discography with a self-titled album in 2007, then the more English-leaning Fangless Wolf Facing Winter in 2010, and Les temps nouveaux in 2013, blending folk, pop, and mellow rock. Alongside his musical career, Parent has appeared on screen—most notably in Jean-Marc Vallée’s film Café de Flore—and continues to move between intimate gigs and large stages across Quebec, maintaining a style built on direct melodies and accessible songwriting.
