Les Forbans
Formed in 1978 in the Paris region, Les Forbans are part of the French rock'n'roll revival of the early 1980s, with a repertoire steeped in rockabilly, twist and danceable songs directly linked to the aesthetic of the 1950s and 1960s. Les Forbans developed a simple, straightforward style built on taut guitars, collective choruses and a deliberately popular festive spirit, in a vein that combines dance-hall, revival rock and upbeat pop. Their career took shape on the French scene at a time when several bands were reintroducing the codes of classic rock in French, and Les Forbans became known for songs such as 'Chante', 'Tape des mains', 'Flip Flap' and 'Hot Dog'. Over the years the line-up went through several changes and various revivals, while retaining the retro, energetic core that defines their identity. Still associated with concert circuits, local fêtes and nostalgia tours, Les Forbans have sustained a regular stage presence for decades with a direct, popular rock'n'roll strongly marked by dance-culture.
