Jon B.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1974 and raised in Altadena, California, Jon B., born Jonathan David Buck, emerged on the American R&B scene in the 1990s with songwriting marked by soul, slow jams and melodic urban pop. Raised in a musical family, he began composing for other artists before being discovered by the label Yab-Yum, where his trajectory crystallized alongside Babyface. His debut album, Bonafide, was released in 1995, followed by Cool Relax in 1997, an album that further established his blend of romantic R&B, smooth grooves and productions rooted in the era’s mid-tempo sound. He went on to release Pleasures U Like (2001), Stronger Everyday (2004), Holiday Wishes: From Me to You (2006), Helpless Romantic (2008) and Comfortable Swagg (2012). His career has passed through several phases, between major labels and more independent releases, while remaining tied to an adult, fluid R&B aesthetic focused on the vocals. Jon B. has also collaborated with Babyface, 2Pac and Donell Jones, and continues to hold a steady place on contemporary nostalgic soul and R&B stages.
