Dru Hill
Formed in Baltimore, Maryland, around Sisqó, Nokio, Jazz and Woody, Dru Hill emerged in the early 1990s on the local scene, notably at Harborplace in the Inner Harbor, where its members sang before signing with University Records, affiliated with Island. The name Dru Hill refers to Druid Hill Park, a well-known city landmark. The group developed a contemporary R&B infused with soul, hip‑hop soul and gospel touches, with tight harmony work, vocal ballads and more uptempo tracks driven by alternating voices. Dru Hill released Dru Hill in 1996 and Enter the Dru in 1998, two albums that firmly established the group in the American R&B landscape with songs like In My Bed, Never Make a Promise, How Deep Is Your Love and These Are the Times. After an initial hiatus in the late 1990s, during which Sisqó pursued a solo career, Dru Hill reformed, added Scola and released Dru World Order in 2002 and InDRUpendence Day in 2010. The band's history has since been marked by several lineup changes — comebacks, departures and new recruits — while remaining tied to the American R&B scenes from the 1990s to the present. The current touring lineup brings together Sisqó, Nokio, Jazz, Scola, Smoke and Black.
