La Roux
The London synth-pop project led by singer-songwriter Elly Jackson, La Roux emerged in the mid-2000s in the Brixton neighborhood, initially as a duo with producer Ben Langmaid before becoming Jackson's solo project in the early 2010s. La Roux developed an aesthetic combining electronic pop, new wave and pronounced 1980s references, driven by sharp synthesizer lines, dance rhythms and a high, androgynous voice. The self-titled debut album 'La Roux' was released in 2009, followed by 'Trouble in Paradise' in 2014 and 'Supervision' in 2020, marking a gradual shift toward warmer textures and more groove-oriented structures. Alongside these releases, La Roux moved closer to club and electronic indie scenes through remixes and collaborations— notably with Major Lazer, New Order and Chromeo — and contributed songwriting and backing vocals to other artists' projects. La Roux has since continued this trajectory between pop and electronic music with standalone singles, including 'Feedback', a 2022 collaboration with American rapper Baby Tate.
