Koriass

Born in Montréal-Nord in 1984 as Emmanuel Dubois, Koriass established himself in Quebec rap during the 2000s after starting out in the group Raide-Aktion and gaining visibility online through rap battles. His writing, rooted in francophone hip-hop, shifted from technically oriented rap and social observation to more melodic formats while maintaining clear diction and a strong sense of phrasing. After the EP Mort de rire in 2006, Koriass joined the Disques 7ième Ciel label and released Les racines dans le béton in 2008, followed by Petites victoires in 2011 and Rue des Saules in 2013 — three records that accompanied his regular presence on Quebec stages and festivals, notably the Francofolies de Montréal and the Festival d’été de Québec. He continued this evolution with the EP Petit love in 2015, the album Love suprême in 2016, and La Nuit des Longs Couteaux in 2018, where his rap opened further to sung choruses and a broader production. In 2020 Koriass shared the collaborative album Génies en herbe with FouKi, before returning as a solo artist with Abri de fortune (pour fin du monde) in 2022. His collaborations also include Loud, Lary Kidd, Sarahmée, Jay Scøtt and Kaytranada.
