Souldia
Originally from Limoilou in Québec, Souldia has been developing a francophone rap rooted in lived experience since the mid-2000s. His writing is direct, his narratives come from the street and his tone is often dark, set against contemporary hip-hop productions ranging from boom bap to trap and melodic rap. First noticed on Quebec’s independent circuit, Souldia has built a sustained career over more than fifteen years with numerous releases, gradually moving toward tighter tracks and more prominent choruses while retaining a dry delivery and a marked social perspective. His reach widened with the 2019 album Survivant, which brought him an audience beyond the specialist rap scene. He followed with Non conventionnel in 2023, released the collaborative Portrait robot with Lost in 2024, and later that year issued Nouvelle vie. Long present on Quebec stages, Souldia belongs to a close, narrative and confrontational rap tradition, nourished as much by his local roots as by contemporary francophone hip-hop forms.
