Katie Melua

Born in 1984 in Kutaisi, Georgia, and based in the United Kingdom since her teens, Katie Melua has built a career between pop, folk and jazz influences. Trained at London’s BRIT School, she was discovered by composer‑producer Mike Batt, with whom she recorded her debut album Call Off the Search in 2003, followed by Piece by Piece (2005) and Pictures (2007). These albums established a style centered on the ballad, acoustic atmospheres and restrained orchestral arrangements. Across The House (2010), Secret Symphony (2012) and Ketevan (2013), Melua alternates original compositions and covers while broadening her palette toward more contemporary pop. With In Winter (2016), made in part with the Gori Women’s Choir, she explored a repertoire of winter songs and Eastern European traditions, before returning to more intimate songwriting on Album No.8 (2020) and Love & Money (2023). Katie Melua regularly performs in Europe and beyond, in formats ranging from small‑ensemble concerts to orchestral tours, and continues to anchor her career between the stage, studio recordings and occasional collaborations with other writers, composers and arrangers.
