Julia Stone

Born in Sydney in 1984 into a family of folk musicians, Julia Stone early on developed a songwriting style focused on voice, guitar and an acoustic approach that blends folk, understated pop and intimate songwriting. After performing at open mics in Australia in the mid-2000s, she formed the sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone with her brother Angus in 2006 — a project that firmly established her on the Australian folk and indie scenes and later internationally. At the same time, Julia pursued a solo career with The Memory Machine (2010), By the Horns (2012), Sixty Summers (2021) and Everything Is Christmas the same year. Her solo work keeps a folk-acoustic core while occasionally opening onto broader, melodic pop. Over the years she has also collaborated with artists such as Doveman and Jarryd James and contributed to various collective projects and covers. Between her solo work and the partnership with Angus, Julia Stone has built a steady career marked by personal songwriting, spare arrangements and a continuous presence on concert circuits from clubs to festivals.
