Gulddreng
Gulddreng is a musical persona conceived by Danish singer-songwriter Malte Ebert. Introduced in 2016 as a flashy caricature of the national urban pop scene, the project blends pop, dance and melodic R&B. Born in 1994 in Andkær near Vejle, Malte Ebert created Gulddreng to release the single “Model” without using his own name, then followed with tracks such as “Se mig nu”, “Drikker for lidt” and “Ked af det”, where humour, an inflated ego and nightlife references shape the songwriting. Behind Gulddreng’s golden aesthetic, the project plays on the boundary between fiction and reality, informed by Ebert’s interest in theatre and staging. In 2017 Gulddreng compiled his songs on the EP “24K EP”, followed by the album “Farvel”, intended as a closing chapter. That same year the documentary series “Gulddreng vs. Malte”, broadcast by DR, retraced the persona’s origins and announced a farewell concert at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena in February 2018. Gulddreng resurfaced in 2021 with the track “Helt Sikker”, an unofficial support song for Denmark’s national football team at the Euro, extending the parodic identity alongside Malte Ebert’s more personal career under his own name.
