Born in 1983 in Brøndby Strand on the outskirts of Copenhagen, Burhan G, full name Burhan Genç Koç, grew up in a Kurdish family originally from Turkey and trained early with the Copenhagen Boys Choir. After work as a chorister and backing vocalist, notably alongside hip‑hop group Outlandish, Burhan G launched a solo career in the mid‑2000s with English‑language R&B with pop accents, crystallized on the albums «Playground» (2004) and «Breakout» (2007). From 2010 he turned to Danish with the album «Burhan G», adopting a more pop‑oriented register while retaining an R&B foundation, and featuring collaborations with Nik & Jay and Medina. The records «Din fortid er glemt» (2013) and «Pas på pigerne» (2015) continued this direction with direct writing about relationships and intimacy, on productions mixing electronic ballads and uptempo tracks. Alongside his own releases, Burhan G works as a songwriter and composer for other Danish artists and remains active on Copenhagen’s pop and R&B scene, between studio and concerts.
