Grace Potter
Born in Waitsfield, Vermont, Grace Potter first came to prominence in the early 2000s with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, a band built around rock nourished by blues, soul and American roots influences. A singer, keyboardist and guitarist, she asserts here a direct writing style and a husky vocal presence, supported by arrangements that fuse organ, electric guitars and song formats inherited from classic rock. After two early albums under her name, Red Shoe Rebel (2002) and Original Soul (2004), she continued with the band on Nothing but the Water (2005), This Is Somewhere (2007), Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (2010) and The Lion the Beast the Beat (2012), while touring North American rock, jam and Americana stages. From 2015, Grace Potter refocused her solo career with Midnight, a more pop-rock oriented album, then Daylight (2019), which returns to a more organic writing. Her collaborations with Kenny Chesney or The Flaming Lips show the breadth of a repertoire that traverses American rock as well as country and pop. In 2023, Grace Potter released Mother Road, an album that extends this dialogue between rock, soul and textures of the American road.
