Eric Gadd

Born in Uppsala in 1965 as Carl Erik Gudmund Sojdelius, Eric Gadd first grew up in Visby and later in Vallentuna. On the Swedish scene he developed a style situated between pop, soul, funk and R&B, with songs built around direct melodies, a flexible vocal delivery and arrangements influenced by contemporary soul. He made his record debut with Hello in 1987, followed by Hurra, du lever! Pang, du är död! in 1989 and Do You Believe in Gadd? in 1991, at which point his English repertoire became more prominent. His subsequent career alternated between English-language tracks and songs in Swedish, notably On Display (1993), Floating (1995), The Right Way (1997), Eric Gadd (2006), Stockholm står kvar men jag ligger (2008), Rise Up! (2010) and Fiende Eller Vän (2013). He has also collaborated with singers Caron Wheeler and Biti Strauchn, competed in Melodifestivalen 2013 with Vi kommer aldrig att förlora, and appeared on the TV show Så mycket bättre in 2018. His career is also marked by three Grammis awards won in 1991, 1993 and 1997.
