Tommy Nilsson

Born in Solna, Sweden, Erik Tommy Nilsson established himself in melodic pop-rock that over the years intersected with AOR, ballads, schlager and, at times, a harder rock register. Tommy Nilsson first sang in the band Horizont before securing a contract in France in the early 1980s and releasing the album Tommy Nilsson in 1981. After that initial period between Sweden, France and New York, he joined Easy Action in 1985 and was the vocalist on That Makes One (1986), a record leaning toward a hard rock and AOR sound. His solo career took on a new dimension at the end of the 1980s with the duet "Allt som jag känner" with Tone Norum, and with "En dag", which won Melodifestivalen 1989 and was performed at Eurovision the same year. In the 1990s he moved more toward Swedish pop dominated by ballads, with songs like "Öppna din dörr" and albums such as It! (1988), Follow the Road... (1990), En kvinnas man (1994) and Så nära (1996). He continued his career across records, tours, television, musical theatre and dubbing, notably releasing Tiden före nu (2005), Stay Straight on the Current Road (2013) and Samma människa (2017), and reuniting with Easy Action on stage from 2019.
