Erdling

Formed in Essen in 2014 around Neill Freiwald and Niklas Kahl, Erdling is part of the Neue Deutsche Härte movement, blending industrial metal, dark rock and gothic touches, driven by German lyrics and direct choruses. The project took shape after Freiwald left Stahlmann and Sündenklang, releasing the maxi single Blitz und Donner in 2015 and then touring with Unzucht and Megaherz. Erdling went on to release the albums Aus den Tiefen (2016), Supernova (2017), Dämon (2018), Yggdrasil (2020), Helheim (2021) and Bestia (2023). Across this discography the band’s writing has shifted toward a more metallic, darker formula while retaining a clear melodic core and recurring imagery tied to Norse myths, nature and symbolic figures. The group has occasionally featured guests such as Robert Dahn on "Im Namen der Krähe" and Chris Pohl on "Wölfe der Nacht." Marked by several lineup changes, Erdling remains centered on Neill Freiwald, with Robin Sem Vedrfölnir, Christian Schäfer and, more recently, Ole Enders in the current formation.
