HANA
Born in Atlanta and partly raised in Billings, Montana, HANA, full name Hana Gabrielle Pestle, initially developed an acoustic singer‑songwriter repertoire under the name Hana Pestle, with songwriting focused on guitar and voice. That early period includes the EP Hana Pestle (2008), the album This Way (2009) and the EP For the Sky (2011). After a hiatus in the early 2010s, HANA turned to production, tightened her artistic identity and reemerged in 2015 under her first name alone with a more electronic synthpop and indie pop sound—characterized by melodic pads, slow‑to‑mid tempos and often airy vocals. This transition took shape on the EP HANA (2016) and then on the album Hanadriel (2019), which was partly conceived and streamed live on Twitch, before the EP Moonstoned (2022). Based in Los Angeles, HANA has also been active on American and European pop and electronic scenes through tours with Grimes, with whom she collaborated on stage and in the studio, notably on “We Appreciate Power” (2018). HANA also contributed tracks with Durante on the 13 Voices EP (2020) and has undertaken numerous projects at the intersection of synthetic pop, electronica and more melodic club formats.
