Django

Born in Paris in 1996, Django, also credited at times under the name Django DKZ, has since the mid-2010s developed a trajectory in French rap, between trap, drill and emo-rap inflections. Appearing with tracks such as «Fichu», «Oiseaux» or «Billy Cocaine», Django quickly imposes a direct and dark style of writing, carried by cold productions, often tense tempos and a voice that alternates detachment, fragility and nervousness. His career takes shape with the EPs Anthracite in 2017 and Tue-moi, mon amour, s’il te plaît in 2018, before a more assertive turn on S/O le Flem in 2020. Django then continues with Athanor in 2021, Troisième Terme in 2023 and Paris, August 31, 2024, evolving his aesthetic toward more introspective forms and sometimes more melodic, without abandoning a strong rap anchor. In this trajectory, a few collaborations, notably with Freeze Corleone or Wallace Cleaver, illuminate Django's affinities with a French scene attentive to nocturnal atmospheres, disenchanted lyrics and hybrid formats between frontal rap and darkened singing.
