Shimza

Born in Tembisa, Gauteng, DJ Shimza has been building a career rooted in South African house since the 2000s. His music sits at the intersection of deep house, afro-house and afro-tech, featuring percussive rhythms, restrained melodic lines and progressive constructions designed for both the club and extended formats. He first gained recognition on the local scene before expanding internationally, appearing on electronic-music bills that span house and techno. Alongside his productions and DJ sets, he developed the One Man Show concept in Tembisa and later launched KUNYE, a project combining events, a label and the promotion of African artists. His trajectory places him in a space between local scenes and global networks, with work focused on the continuity of groove, rhythmic tension and a pared-down electronic aesthetic.
