Vanco

From Douglasdale in the Johannesburg area, Vanco has built a career as a DJ and producer centered on club electronic music informed by afro house, deep house and melodic textures. Vanco’s work rests on supple rhythms, vocal lines often rooted in soul or African traditions, and a pursuit of groove that links the South African scene to wider international circuits. Over the course of his trajectory, Vanco has taken his music between South Africa, Europe and the Middle East, appearing in clubs and events in London, Ibiza and Dubai, while remaining associated with the dissemination of a contemporary afro-electronic aesthetic. His name became particularly known with tracks such as “Ma Tnsani” with Aya and “Keladi,” regularly played in house and afro-house contexts. Vanco has also produced remixes for artists from pop and electronic music, including Moby, Black Eyed Peas and Daddy Yankee. His discography is released on various international labels as well as on his own imprint, ALGRA, conceived as a space dedicated to the new circulations of African electronic music.
