Fun Lovin' Criminals
Formed in New York in 1993, Fun Lovin' Criminals coalesced around Huey Morgan, Brian “Fast” Leiser and Steve Borgovini in a club scene where the trio initially filled in for absent acts. From the start they developed a blend of rap rock, funk, blues, soul, jazz and urban pop, with a strong taste for cinematic atmospheres, New York–style storytelling, irony and pop-culture references. This identity took shape on Come Find Yourself (1996), which includes “Scooby Snacks”, and continued with the darker, more soulful 100% Colombian (1998), followed by Loco (2001), Welcome to Poppy’s (2003), Livin’ in the City (2005) and Classic Fantastic (2010). The band also released the compilations Mimosa (1999) and Another Mimosa (2019), partly focused on covers and more relaxed versions of their material. Very active live in the UK and Europe, Fun Lovin' Criminals underwent several lineup changes: Steve Borgovini left at the end of the 1990s, Frank Benbini then became the permanent drummer, and Huey Morgan departed in 2021. Since then the band has continued around Brian Leiser, accompanied by Frank Benbini and guitarist Naim Cortazzi, issuing the Roosevelt Sessions EP in 2022 and A Matter of Time in 2025.
