Fred Chapellier

Born in Metz in 1966, Fred Chapellier has since the 1990s built a career rooted in electric blues, rock and soul, with guitar playing nourished by American traditions and a strong taste for group formats. After an initial stint with Kashmir between 1992 and 1997, then Men in Blue alongside Big Joe Barret, Fred Chapellier launched his own project in the early 2000s and released Blues Devil in 2003, followed by L’Œil du Blues in 2005. His trajectory then took on a more international dimension with A Tribute to Roy Buchanan in 2007, followed by Night Work in 2009 with American singer Billy Price, a collaboration extended on stage in Europe as in the United States. Fred Chapellier also plays in broader contexts, notably with Jacques Dutronc on tour in 2010, then with Les Vieilles Canailles from 2014. His discography reflects this movement between tense blues-rock, soulful ballads and acknowledged tributes, with Electric Fingers in 2012, It Never Comes Easy in 2016, Fred Chapellier Plays Peter Green in 2018, Best Of 25 Years On The Road in 2020, Straight To The Point in 2022 and Live in Paris in 2024. Fred Chapellier frequents both clubs and major stages, in a direct aesthetic, centered on guitar, singing and the balance between rock intensity and blues phrasing.
