Fred & The Healers

Active on the Belgian blues-rock scene since the mid-1990s, Fred & The Healers revolves around guitarist and singer Fred Lani, who crafts a repertoire based on electric blues infused with 1960s and 1970s rock. Rooted in the power trio tradition, Fred & The Healers relies on a prominent bass-and-drum rhythm section, sometimes augmented by keyboards, for songs that alternate between shuffles, boogies and slower moods. The band began to attract attention in clubs and venues across Belgium before gradually expanding its activity to other European stages, particularly on the blues circuit. From the late 1990s onwards, Fred & The Healers released several studio albums, marking different phases of its sonic development, from grounding in Chicago blues to more contemporary rock influences. After various lineup changes and a few quieter periods, Fred & The Healers continues to perform—often in a compact formation—while maintaining a steady practice of writing and rearranging its repertoire.
