Greg Zlap

Born in Warsaw as Grzegorz Szlapczyński, Greg Zlap grew up in Poland before settling in France in the late 1980s. A self-taught harmonica player, he developed a style positioned between blues, rock and pop, with a melodic approach that places the harmonica both in chanson and in more electric settings. His career began as a studio and live musician alongside artists such as Murray Head, Florent Pagny, Eddy Mitchell and composer Vladimir Cosma, and continued for about ten years in Johnny Hallyday’s band on tours and major live events in France. Over time Greg Zlap broadened his scope through collaborations across several registers — from Michel Jonasz’s songwriting to Archimède’s pop-rock, and with Madame Monsieur, Klingande or -M-. This cross-genre movement is evident on Rock It (2020), where he pursues an open approach to the harmonica, between amplified blues, rock, French chanson and more contemporary productions.
