Fickle Friends
Formed in Brighton in 2013, Fickle Friends initially made their mark as a live band, playing dates across the UK and Europe before releasing a string of singles — including “Swim”, “Play” and “For You” in 2014. Fronted by singer and keyboardist Natassja Shiner, the English quartet crafts songs that sit between indie pop, synth-pop, indie rock and alternative rock, featuring sharp choruses, prominent keyboards and a live-driven energy. After the Velvet EP in 2015 and Glue in 2017, Fickle Friends released their debut album You Are Someone Else in 2018, recorded in Los Angeles with Mike Crossey. The band then moved on to the Weird Years project, conceived as two EPs in 2021, before releasing Are We Gonna Be Alright? in 2022 — a period in which their sound became more direct and pop-oriented while retaining a tense melodic core. Having downsized from five members to a quartet following Christopher Hall’s departure, Fickle Friends also issued several standalone tracks and a reworking of The Aces’ “Kelly”, before returning with their third album, Fickle Friends, released in 2025.
