Estopa

Born in Cornellà de Llobregat, in the Barcelona area, Estopa brings together brothers David and José Muñoz around a blend of Catalan rumba, flamenco, pop and rock, marked by a very direct sense of melody and everyday storytelling. The duo emerged in the late 1990s after circulating demos and playing in a local scene, before releasing Estopa in 1999, then Destrangis in 2001, two records that quickly established their popular songwriting, their acoustic guitar playing and their way of making rock energy, flamenco accents and choruses of Spanish songs dialogue with each other. Over the years, Estopa broadened its vocabulary without breaking with this base, as shown by ¿La calle es tuya? in 2004, Voces de ultrarumba in 2005, Allenrok in 2008, Estopa 2.0 in 2011, Rumba a lo desconocido in 2015, Fuego in 2019 and Estopía in 2024. Their journey also includes retrospective formats or live concerts, among them X Anniversarium in 2009 and Esto es Estopa in 2014. Present on major Spanish stages as well as in several Latin American countries, Estopa has also developed occasional collaborations that fit into a landscape ranging from singer-songwriter to rumba and Iberian rock.
