La Cabra Mecanica
Formed in Madrid around Miguel Ángel Hernando, aka Lichis, La Cabra Mecánica sits in a Spanish pop‑rock vein nourished by rumba, urban song and a marked taste for blending styles. Active since the mid-1990s, the project took shape with Cuando me suenan las tripas in 1997, then Cabrón in 1999, before reaching a wider audience with Vestidos de domingo in 2001, notably propelled by La lista de la compra with María Jiménez. La Cabra Mecánica then developed a direct, often ironic, songwriting approach, where guitars, Latin rhythms and rock accents come together in a format of popular songs deeply anchored in daily life. The band's trajectory also passed through the live scene, with tours in Spain and a live album Ni jaulas ni peceras, released in 2003. Hotel Lichis followed in 2005, then Carne de canción in 2009, at the moment La Cabra Mecánica announced a farewell tour. After this interlude, Lichis relaunched La Cabra Mecánica in 2022 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the first album, and the name has since appeared again on festival posters and on new tours.
