Seguridad Social
Born on the outskirts of Valencia, Spain, in 1982, Seguridad Social emerged within the Valencian movida with a punk and new wave foundation that gradually shifted toward a more open rock sound incorporating ska, reggae and Latin and Mediterranean touches. The lineup went through numerous changes and progressively centered around José Manuel Casañ, the singer and principal songwriter, which gave Seguridad Social continuity despite its evolving personnel. The group’s early recordings retain a post‑punk tension; albums such as Introglicerina (1991), Que no se extinga la llama (1993) and Furia latina (1997) established a more direct songwriting approach built on sharp choruses, rock guitars and danceable rhythms. Present on Spanish rock stages since the 1980s, Seguridad Social has moved between clubs, festivals and large venues, remaining associated with a way of blending rock energy, pop heritage and Latin influences without breaking with its Valencian origins.
