Fito y Fitipaldis
Launched in Bilbao in 1998, Fito y Fitipaldis is a rock project built around singer‑guitarist Adolfo “Fito” Cabrales, formerly of Platero y Tú. The lineup has evolved over time and blends urban rock, pop rock and rhythm-and-blues influences. From the first album, A puerta cerrada (1998), the band established a sound of electric and acoustic guitars, saxophone and keyboards, with an emphasis on ballads and lyrics focused on everyday life, relationships and nocturnal excesses. The records Los sueños locos (2001) and Lo más lejos a tu lado (2003) continued this mix of rock and roll, blues and touches of swing, before Por la boca vive el pez (2006) and Antes de que cuente diez (2009) opened Fito y Fitipaldis’ sound toward more melodic songwriting, often conceived for large stages. The group also documented its live activity with Vivo… para contarlo (2004) and Dos son multitud (2008), recorded with Andrés Calamaro, while Huyendo conmigo de mí (2014) and Cada vez cadáver (2021) confirmed, over time, the orientation toward accessible Spanish‑language rock nourished by references to classic Anglo‑Saxon rock. Between studio work and touring, Fito y Fitipaldis has become Cabrales’ central project within the Spanish rock scene, with a musical identity easily recognisable for its combination of intimate narratives and retro-tinged arrangements.
