Efterklang

Originating in Copenhagen at the turn of the 2000s, Efterklang is centred on the trio Casper Clausen, Mads Brauer and Rasmus Stolberg. Their writing initially combined post‑rock, electronic music, glitch and chamber arrangements before evolving into a more direct art‑pop between dream pop, indie rock, folk and synthpop. Efterklang released Tripper in 2004 and Parades in 2007, the latter developed with producer Darren Allison, and extended this orchestral work on stage with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, captured on Performing Parades in 2009. They later signed to 4AD and issued Magic Chairs in 2010 and Piramida in 2012, an album shaped by a stay in the former mining settlement of Pyramiden on Svalbard. The band has also developed formats that sit between concert and film, notably An Island, made with Vincent Moon. From the mid‑2010s the members launched Liima in parallel with Finnish drummer Tatu Rönkkö, while continuing to tour Europe and North America. Efterklang returned under their own name with Altid Sammen in 2019, their first album sung in Danish, followed by Windflowers (2021) and Things We Have In Common (2024), which features Beirut. On stage, Efterklang often appears in an expanded lineup.
