Doro
Active on the European heavy metal scene since the early 1980s, Doro Pesch is from Düsseldorf, Germany, and first made her mark as the singer of the band Warlock, with whom she recorded notably "Burning the Witches" (1984) and "Triumph and Agony" (1987), before launching a solo career under the name Doro at the end of the decade. Doro's music blends traditional heavy metal, hard rock and powerful ballads, driven by a voice that is both melodic and gritty, with lyrics focused on loyalty, perseverance and the bond with her audience. Her first solo album, "Force Majeure," was released in 1989, followed in the 1990s by records such as "Doro" (1990) and "Love Me in Black" (1998), which explored more modern sounds, before a return to a more classic metal style in the 2000s with "Calling the Wild" (2000), "Fight" (2002) and "Warrior Soul" (2006). Doro has toured extensively across European, North American and Japanese metal circuits, appears regularly at major specialist festivals and occasionally collaborates with musicians from the heavy and power metal scenes, while maintaining a steady studio output up to "Forever Warriors, Forever United" (2018) and "Conqueress – Forever Strong and Proud" (2023), which affirm her place in the international metal landscape.
