Serious Black

Founded in 2014 around bassist Mario Lochert and guitarist Dominik Sebastian, Serious Black took shape across several countries but initially organized in Munich, where the core of the project met in the studio after an initial impulse from the European festival circuit. The band works within melodic power metal, built on crisp guitars, supporting keyboards, very accessible choruses and songwriting that blends heavy metal efficiency with a more approachable slant. In its early days, Serious Black included Roland Grapow, Thomen Stauch, Jan Vacik and vocalist Urban Breed, before several lineup changes during tours and recordings. The discography progressed at a steady pace with As Daylight Breaks (2015), Mirrorworld (2016), Magic (2017), and First Light the same year in an acoustic format, followed by Suite 226 in 2020. In 2021 Urban Breed’s departure marked a new phase, and Serious Black continued with Serbian singer Nikola Mijic, heard on Vengeance Is Mine (2022) and Rise of Akhenaton (2024). In its recent configuration, Serious Black functions as an international power-metal outfit focused on direct, melodic songs crafted for the stage.
