Yanka

Active on the Francophone rap and electronic scene, Yanka develops a hybrid project where punk references, club culture and urban aesthetics intersect. As a rapper and DJ, Yanka delivers direct, often feminist texts over electronic productions that draw as much from rap as from global club currents, with notable collaborations with producers like King Doudou and Cardozo. Yanka’s world is fed by the street, which she inhabits also as a graffiti artist and photographer; this translates into a close attention to everyday details, marginal spaces and nocturnal imaginaries. Her tracks alternate between abrasive energy and more introspective passages, mixing chanted slogans, simple melodies and spoken refrains in a "baby doll punk" aesthetic that plays with the codes of provocation and intimacy. Present both through digital releases and through mixes and performances, Yanka sits within a landscape where rap, punk and electro meet in a direct, experimental mode without technical showmanship.
