HTRK

Formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 2003 around Jonnine Standish, Nigel Yang and Sean Stewart, HTRK initially operated as a trio, creating slow, tense and minimalist music at the crossroads of no wave, post‑punk, dub, cold wave and dark, industrial‑textured electronics. After their first EP, Nostalgia (2004), the band passed through Berlin and settled in London, where HTRK became part of the late‑2000s rock and experimental circuits. Early on they received support from Rowland S. Howard, with whom they maintained a close relationship, and in 2009 they finally released Marry Me Tonight—an album marked by noisy guitars, slowed basslines and Jonnine Standish’s distant vocals. Following Sean Stewart’s death in 2010, HTRK continued as a duo with Standish and Yang, further tightening their approach on Work (work, work) (2011) and Psychic 9‑5 Club (2014). Since then HTRK has continued to blend experimental rock, slowed trip‑hop, dub pulses and nocturnal atmospheres in a stripped‑down form that remains central to their identity.
