Róisín O

Born in Kimmage, south Dublin, Róisín O works in a register that blends folk and acoustic pop, with songwriting focused on melody and a restrained delivery. Active since the late 2000s, she comes from a musical family shaped by the Irish scene: she is the daughter of Mary Black and the sister of Danny O’Reilly, lead singer of The Coronas. She quickly developed her own path, first on stage—opening for other acts and touring with Mary Black—before releasing her debut album, The Secret Life of Blue, in 2012, produced by David Odlum. Her repertoire is built on songs with clear arrangements, sitting between contemporary folk, light pop and intimate songwriting. Róisín O has performed at several major events in Ireland, including Electric Picnic, and has shared bills with artists such as The Coronas and Lionel Richie. In 2020 she took part in the collective Irish Women in Harmony. She returned with Courageous in 2022, a second album that continues this pop-folk vein while maintaining a direct and personal approach.
