Brian Kennedy
Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1983, Brian Kennedy Seals operates at the crossroads of R&B, pop and hip-hop as a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Trained at a young age in classical piano, he moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and began as a session musician with Diane Warren, Babyface and The Underdogs before securing his first placements in the mid-2000s. Kennedy later contributed to writing or producing tracks for Ciara, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia and Doechii, combining a pop-melodic sensibility, direct choruses and productions that blend R&B textures, contemporary grooves and radio hooks while maintaining a flexible vocal-writing approach. His career spans mainstream pop as well as more soulful or urban projects, and is rooted primarily in studio work nourished by regular collaborations. Among his verifiable credits are tracks such as Disturbia (2008) for Rihanna, Forever (2008) for Chris Brown, Mr. Know It All (2011) for Kelly Clarkson, Don’t Wake Me Up (2012) for Chris Brown, No Time for It (2016) for Fantasia and What It Is (Block Boy) (2023) for Doechii. Brian Kennedy thus appears as a craftsman of contemporary American songwriting, active on several pop and R&B scenes for nearly twenty years.
