AySay

Based in Copenhagen, AySay brings together around singer-songwriter Luna Ersahin a core of musicians active between the jazz scene, folk and contemporary Danish music. AySay revolves around Luna’s voice, informed by a Kurdish and Turkish family heritage and a musical upbringing in Scandinavia, with lyrics moving between Kurdish, Turkish, Danish and sometimes English. The trio develops a sound that blends melodies from Anatolian traditions, rhythms close to alternative pop and Nordic atmospheres, enriched by subtle electronic textures and guitars with psychedelic touches. Since the late 2010s, AySay has performed in clubs and festivals in Denmark and later in other European countries, fitting into circuits of global music and contemporary jazz as well as on more pop-oriented stages. AySay’s studio work extends this hybrid aesthetic, between structured songs and more open passages where the voice plays a central role. The compositions address directly themes related to multiple identities, intergenerational ties and the everyday experiences of the diaspora, while remaining rooted in an accessible song format.
