Bab L' Bluz
Bab L’Bluz, with bab meaning “door” in Arabic, opens a modern gateway to Sahel blues and the spiritual heritage of the Gnawa. Fronted by vocalist and electric guembri player Yousra Mansour — an Afro‑Moroccan figure disrupting a role long reserved for men — the band fuses Gnawa trance, hassani songs of southern Morocco and chaâbi polyrhythms with an energy fed by Hendrix, Santana and Jefferson Airplane. Heirs to the creative surge of the Nayda, Morocco’s youth cultural movement, Bab L’Bluz sings in darija about emancipation, freedom and the reinvention of narratives. On stage the group is an electric ritual: deep grooves, psychedelic riffs, incantatory vocals and rhythms that invite collective trance. Propelled by a borderless power quartet, Bab L’Bluz travels international stages to champion a raw, spiritual and cosmic sound where tradition and psychedelic rock merge in the same liberating fervor.
