Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado

Led by Danish singer and guitarist Thorbjørn Risager, Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado emerged from Copenhagen's blues scene in the early 2000s and later evolved into a larger outfit featuring a horn section, keyboards, guitar and a rhythm section. The band develops an electric blues sound with shades of rhythm and blues, rock and soul, where taut riffs sit alongside slower, more melodic passages often tinged with Americana. They gradually established themselves on club and festival stages across Europe and expanded their touring beyond Denmark, notably through their association with the German label Ruf Records. Their discography includes several studio albums — Too Many Roads (2014), Change My Game (2017), Come On In (2020) and Navigation Blues (2022) — which document a shift toward rockier textures and sometimes cinematic atmospheres while remaining rooted in a modern blues tradition.
