Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado

On 31 October 2026 Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado will play at Spirit of 66 in Verviers. Led by Danish singer‑guitarist Thorbjørn Risager, the band formed in the early 2000s on Copenhagen’s blues scene and later expanded into a larger lineup with horns, keyboards, guitar and a tight rhythm section. Their sound is electric blues with touches of rhythm & blues, rock and soul; compact riffs sit alongside slower, melodic pieces with a hint of Americana.

Live, the emphasis is on interplay and dynamics. In recent years the group released albums such as Too Many Roads (2014), Change My Game (2017), Come On In (2020) and Navigation Blues (2022). Those records show a move toward richer rock textures and sometimes cinematic atmospheres, while the foundation remains rooted in a modern blues approach.
