Buzz Kull

Based in Sydney, Marc Dwyer has been developing Buzz Kull since 2012, a solo project situated between darkwave, EBM, minimal synth and electronic post-punk. Buzz Kull initially built itself on austere, tense and danceable tracks, where stripped-down synth lines, dry drum machines and cold vocals sketch a nocturnal aesthetic inherited from the industrial and synthetic scenes of the 1980s. This approach took shape on Chroma in 2017 and then New Kind of Cross in 2018, two albums that lay the foundations for a direct, dark and minimalist writing. With Fascination in 2022, released by Avant! Records, Marc Dwyer tightens the focus further toward a clearer, more frontal electronic sound, marked by EBM and a more pronounced club pulsation, without leaving the tense atmosphere that runs through the project as a whole. In parallel with his releases under Buzz Kull, Dwyer also pursues remix work and collaborations in the dark fringes of electronic music. Buzz Kull has toured Europe, the United States, Latin America and Asia, sharing the bill notably with Cold Cave, Boy Harsher, Kontravoid or Spike Hellis.
