Butcher Babies
Based in Los Angeles, the American band Butcher Babies formed in 2010 around vocalists Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, later joined by guitarist Henry Flury and a rhythm section that evolved over the years. Rooted in heavy metal with elements of groove metal, metalcore and thrash, Butcher Babies developed a sound centered on a duo of screamed and sung vocals, massive riffs and straightforward structures often close to the aesthetic of modern American metal. After a self-titled EP in 2012, the band released the album Goliath in 2013, which established Butcher Babies on North American and European touring circuits and in the line-ups of specialized festivals. This was followed by Take It Like a Man in 2015 and Lilith in 2017, which confirmed a direction toward rhythmically driven metal that alternates melodic passages with more aggressive segments. In parallel, the 2014 covers EP Uncovered showcased the band’s interest in reinterpreting songs from diverse backgrounds. In 2023 the group returned with two complementary albums, Eye for an Eye… and …Til the World’s Blind, continuing work focused on stage energy, vocal contrasts and a sound conceived for both live performance and the studio.
