Alessandro Cortini

Born in Bologna in 1976 and raised in Forlì, Alessandro Cortini moved to the United States to study guitar before turning to keyboards and electronic creation. His path ranges between industrial rock, ambient, synth-pop and experimental music, with work centered on textures, minimal melodies and an often introspective approach to sound. Cortini first appears on the Los Angeles alternative scene with Modwheelmood, a duo formed with Pelle Hillström, then joins Nine Inch Nails as a touring musician between 2005 and 2008, also participating in Ghosts I-IV and The Slip, before reuniting with the group on stage in 2013 and again in 2017. In parallel, he develops several personal projects, notably SONOIO, leaning more toward synth-pop and singing, and blindoldfreak, more intimate. Under his name, since the 2010s Cortini has built a solo discography marked by Forse 1 and Forse 2 in 2013, Sonno in 2014, Risveglio and Forse 3 in 2015, Avanti in 2017, Volume Massimo in 2019, Scuro Chiaro in 2021 and Nati Infiniti in 2024. He has also collaborated with Ladytron, How to Destroy Angels, Daniel Avery and Lawrence English. Cortini's music blends analog soundscapes, repetitive motifs, diffuse industrial tension and atmospheric writing, in a format that moves between contemplative listening, electronic performance and post-industrial heritage.
