David Carretta
Born in Marseille and with a stint in Hiis near Tarbes, David Carretta developed around the turn of the 1990s an approach to electronic music nourished by hard rock, punk and new wave. After an initial experience with Art Kinder Industrie, he refined a language centred on synths, repetitive sequences and a cold tension that brings his work close to electro, EBM and synth wave. Under the name Calyptol Inhalant he released the 1994 maxi L.S.D. / You Can on Harthouse, before signing Boing Bum Tschak / Innerwood to International Deejay Gigolo in 1996 — a label with which his name remains strongly associated. From then on David Carretta has circulated on Europe’s electronic stages and has also played in South America, Japan and Australia. His full‑length discography includes Le Catalogue électronique (1999), Machines... Thrust Vol.1 (2002), Kill Your Radio (2004), Rodeo Disco (2008) and Nuit Panic (2019). Based in the Ariège since 2007, he continues a trajectory marked by dry, danceable and often dark electro, in which the post‑punk heritage remains perceptible.
