Blind Pilot

Born in Portland, Oregon, around singer‑songwriter Israel Nebeker and drummer Ryan Dobrowski, Blind Pilot initially developed as a duo before gradually expanding its lineup onstage and in the studio. The band works in an indie‑folk and acoustic folk‑rock register, with melody‑centered songs, vocal harmonies, restrained rhythmic playing and arrangements that borrow from chamber pop through the use of strings and brass. The group emerged in the late 2000s with 3 Rounds and a Sound (2008), then refined a broader, more orchestrated songwriting approach on We Are the Tide (2011) and And Then Like Lions (2016). Rooted in the American independent scene, Blind Pilot has toured a mix of clubs, theaters and folk‑ and indie‑oriented festivals, maintaining a collective approach to arrangements despite the central role of the founding duo. With In the Shadow of the Holy Mountain (2024), Blind Pilot extends a trajectory marked by direct song forms, organic textures and a steady balance between folk intimacy and pop expansiveness.
