Sven Hammond

Led by Dutch organist Sven Figee, Sven Hammond is embedded in the Netherlands’ soul, funk and rock scene, developing a sound centered on the Hammond organ and a band energy geared toward live performance. Formed in the late 2000s under the name Sven Hammond Soul before shortening the name, the group revolves around Figee with a core of regular musicians, augmented for specific projects by various singers and horn players. Based in the Netherlands and active on the European club and festival circuit, Sven Hammond alternates between instrumental compositions and vocal tracks, where 1960s soul heritage, funk groove, rock riffs and touches of jazz intersect. Through tours and collaborations with a range of voices from the Dutch and international scene, Sven Hammond has refined an aesthetic in which the organ remains at the heart of the sound, supported by a direct rhythm section and arrangements that leave ample room for collective improvisation.
