Poison Ruïn

Born in Philadelphia in the early 2020s, Poison Ruïn operates within an American punk tradition that intersects post-punk, anarcho-punk and deathrock, accompanied by recurring medieval imagery. The group comprises Mac Kennedy on vocals and guitar, Nao Demand on guitar, Allen Chapman on drums and Will McAndrew on bass. First noticed on the DIY circuit, Poison Ruïn has developed a dry, melodic sound where riffs bordering on hardcore and British punk sit alongside dark basslines, austere keyboards and martial rhythms. This rough, almost gothic aesthetic is heard in short, taut tracks, often propelled by a jerky delivery and a pronounced sense of repetition. With Härvest, released in 2023, Poison Ruïn expands this approach by giving their compositions greater breadth without abandoning their economy of means or the frontal energy of their early work, balancing punk urgency, synthetic textures and atmospheres of urban ruin.
