Béton Armé

Based in Montreal, Quebec, Béton Armé develops a francophone oi! rooted in the street punk tradition while incorporating more melodic accents and occasionally elements close to hardcore. The band is part of the Montreal and Quebec punk scene; their French-language repertoire highlights urban daily life, precarious living conditions, social tensions and neighborhood solidarities. Over the years Béton Armé has built a reputation playing small venues, DIY stages and shows organized by the independent punk network, allowing them to reach audiences beyond their local circle. Their discography is built around several short-format releases leading up to the 2022 album Second Souffle, which asserts tighter songwriting and a more cohesive sound while remaining faithful to classic oi! conventions. The band's compositions rely on direct rhythms, simple catchy guitar riffs and shouted choruses, favoring a collective, frontal approach that naturally finds its extension on stage, where they situate themselves within the continuity of francophone punk and skinhead culture.
