Dry Socket
Within Portland’s DIY scene (Oregon, United States), Dry Socket has been developing a direct, fast and tense hardcore since 2019, marked by lyrics that mix personal experiences with a political perspective on power relations, gender and social violence. While part of the American hardcore punk network, the band remains rooted in an autonomous, DIY approach and regularly plays small venues and self-managed spaces. This shapes a working method centered on proximity to the audience and independent logistics. Musically, Dry Socket favors short songs, tight rhythms and a shouted delivery that leaves little room to breathe; the writing aims for immediate impact rather than technical display. The album Sorry For Your Loss (2023) extends this approach by condensing intimate frustrations and social analysis into a compact format, where sonic intensity serves the message. By maintaining the link between local grounding, DIY practices and a politicized discourse, Dry Socket belongs to a generation of hardcore bands that use the genre as a space for collective expression.
