Car Bomb

Born in Rockville Centre on Long Island, New York, Car Bomb formed in the early 2000s around Michael Dafferner, Greg Kubacki, Jon Modell and Elliot Hoffman, in a four-piece lineup that has remained stable over time. Car Bomb operates within the fields of mathcore and experimental metal, with songwriting marked by tempo breaks, irregular time signatures, dissonant riffs and a constant tension between rhythmic precision and sonic brutality. After a first demo in 2004, Car Bomb released Centralia in 2007 on Relapse Records and then continued independently with w^w^^w^w in 2012, Meta in 2016 and Mordial in 2019. Across this discography the band refines a very angular aesthetic, where fragmented structures intersect with elements of progressive metal and technical hardcore. Joseph Duplantier of Gojira appears on w^w^^w^w and again on Meta, which also features Frank Mullen of Suffocation. On stage, Car Bomb has shared bills with Gojira, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Meshuggah, Periphery and Animals as Leaders, contexts that firmly place them between contemporary extreme metal and the technical scene.
