Bayonne
Under the name Bayonne, Roger Sellers — based in Austin, Texas — has developed a project that sits between electronic pop, ambient, dream pop and minimalist songwriting. Initially active under his own name, he released Moments in 2011, 8 Songs in 2012 and Primitives in 2014, before adopting the Bayonne alias when Primitives was reissued in 2016 on Mom + Pop and City Slang. Bayonne’s music rests on repetitive motifs, airy textures, supple pulses and vocal lines embedded in the whole, forming a sound that is both melodic and contemplative. Performing solo, Bayonne constructs his pieces layer by layer, with a very direct relationship to rhythm and progression. After the EP I Know in 2018, he continued this trajectory with Drastic Measures in 2019 and Temporary Time in 2023, where his approach opens toward more pop-oriented forms without abandoning the work of layering and space. Between the early records released as Roger Sellers and those issued under Bayonne, his trajectory traces a clear continuity centered on organic, precise and patient electronics.
